Saturday Apron

Saturday Apron illustrates the level of control and order evident in the routine task of making biscuits according to my grandmother’s instructions. Each utensil hangs from the body silhouette, now deformed and burdened with the utensils, mirroring the controlled way copper pots hang from blue pegboard walls in Julia Child’s kitchen. The dress form was designed and constructed according to the dimensions of my own body, as was the apron pattern and oven mitt. Silhouettes of each utensil were screen-printed onto the designated space for each piece.
